My Handmade Journey: New Space and New Start

In February my son announced, “Congratulations, Mom, you’re a homeowner!” I’ve never owned my own home. Owned. As in, it’s mine! No payments. He bought me a mobile home. He was so proud of himself, and when he took me to go visit it, I think my heart stopped. I’ll get some pictures posted soon, but let me say that this was not what I expected.

First, the living room had no floor. As in you could see the ground. Yep. And the insulation. And the vents. The drywall was missing in the living room, and in the back 2 bedrooms, walls were completely missing.

But he had a vision, and he sold me on it.

“Think about it, Mom. You’re always complaining that you never have the perfect workspace. Now we can build you one. In fact, we can turn the two bedrooms and bathroom into one big room.”

Well, that’s what we’re doing. I still don’t have flooring down in my workspace, but that’s because we are still working on putting up drywall, and putting in a half bath. It’s still a work in progress, but the newly formed studio takes up half of my home. I’m still unpacking. I’m still perfecting. But I’m closer now than I was when we started in March. In fact, it took a month to make it livable.

I’ll be happy when it is finished. That can’t happen soon enough. I’m ready to paint. I’m ready to create. I’m ready to dive into my business with a new purpose and focus. I can’t wait to share the transformation with you!
